Grow Peas or Beans on a Teepee and Plant Lettuces Underneath

by Winnie
(New Paltz, NY)

Peas can be planted early in the Spring and do well when grown on a "teepee" structure...
If you plant a few pea seeds near each piece of wood or bamboo or whatever your teepee is made of, the peas will wind themselves around the stucture.
When the peas/beas grow, they will provide shade for lettuces that are planted in the center of the teepee (lettuces don't like it to be too hot), so it's a perfect situation!
