New Paltz

This is a gorgeous area and those of us who live here are very fortunate to have many healthy green lifestyle resources close at hand including numerous farms and CSAs and lots of healthy food shops and restaurants. Some of my personal favorites are The Village Tea Room, Karma Road, and 60 Main.

We have some amazing local food products here in the Hudson Valley, so much so that there is a growing group of folks specifically dedicated to eating local foods.

There are lots of ways to indulge in healthy habits such as yoga (check out Jai Ma Yoga Center, The Living Seed, and Ashtanga of New Paltz. There are a bunch of great local pilates studios: Pilates of New Paltz, Physique Pilates and Pilates on Main.

There are many other active pursuits you could take up here: I study karate at New Paltz Karate Academy.

There are so many groups doing working to keep the Hudson Valley beautiful and green but two I'd like to mention are Sustainable Hudson Valley and New Paltz GreenWorks.

SHV promotes socially and environmentally responsible economic development. Their website maintains a list of many of the eco-friendly businesses in this area.

New Paltz GreenWorks is working hard right in my community to educate people about reducing their environmental impact. Their website contains some great suggestions for what you can do right now to reduce your carbon footprint.
